Das seit dem 19. Jahrhundert tradierte Werkverständnis zum Messiah geistert immer noch durch die Konzertsäle und Einspielungen. Daniela Dolci legt deshalb eine Interpretation vor, die sich nicht nur bei der Besetzungsstärke an die Konventionen des 18. Jahrhunderts hält. So wurden z. B. auch bezüglich der Continuogruppe oder der Gesangstechnik neueste Forschungsergebnisse berücksichtigt.
