Händels Oratorium »La Resurrezione« wurde am Ostersonntag des Jahres 1708 in Rom uraufgeführt. Die Grundidee basiert darauf, dass zwei Ebenen die Ereignisse zwischen Christus’ Kreuzigung und seiner Auferstehung reflektieren. Einerseits der Dialog zwischen Luzifer und einem Engel, andererseits auf der Erde durch Maria Magdalena, Maria Cleophas und dem Hl. Johannes. Jan Willem de Vriend bringt diese herrliche Komposition in allen denkbaren Klangfarben zum Leuchten.
