Die Londoner multiethnische Soul-Band The Foundations stürmte 1967 mit ihrer ersten PYE-Single "Baby Now That I Found You" auf Platz 1 in Großbritannien.
Anfang 1968 verließ der Sänger Clem Curtis die Band und wurde durch den exzellenten Joe E. Young von The Toniks ersetzt.
In jenem Jahr landete die Band mit 'Build Me Up Buttercup' (mitgeschrieben von Mike d'Abo) und 'In The Bad, Bad Old Days' zwei große weltweite Hits.
