Ob dies zu hörbaren Unterschieden gegenüber der Audio-CD führt, wird zum Teil angezweifelt, da die Aufzeichnungsmöglichkeiten der DVD-Audio jenseits der Grenzen des menschlichen Gehörs liegen.

Fantastischer Folk-Prog

Wohl keine andere Band hat Prog-Rock und Folk so meisterhaft miteinander verwoben, wie es die Briten von Jethro Tull geschafft haben. Es wurde zum Alleinstellungsmerkmal der Gruppe um Ian Anderson, wie sie auf innovative Weise beide Einflüsse zu einem neuen und aufregenden Ganzen verschmolzen haben.

Ein Paradebeispiel dafür ist »The Broadsword And The Beast«, das 1982 veröffentlichte, 14. Studioalbum der Band aus dem britischen Luton. Es zieht Fans mit seiner unverwechselbaren Mischung aus Rock, Folk und progressiven Einflüssen, meisterhaftem Storytelling und Ian Andersons unverwechselbaren Flötenmelodien bis heute in den Bann. Auch von der Kritik wurde das Album hochgelobt.

Eine ganz besondere Note verleiht dem Werk der vermehrte Einsatz von elektronischen Elementen und Synthesizer-Sounds durch den neu hinzugekommenen Keyboarder Peter-John Vettese.

Zum 40. Geburtstag haben Jethro Tull nun eine »40th Anniversary Edition« des Werkes angekündigt. Die Jubiläumsauflage enthält neue Mixe von Steven Wilson, Demoaufnahmen, Rohmixe, Live-Mitschnitte und Sessions aus dem Jahr 1981. Das komplette Erlebnis von »The Broadsword And The Beast« bietet die »Monster Edition« auf fünf CDs und drei Audio-DVDs. Die reguläre »Vinyl Edition« erscheint auf 4 LPs.
