Fun Boy Three wurde im Sommer 1981 gegründet, als Terry Hall, Lynval Golding und Neville Staples sich von The Specials trennten.
Die Band erreichte mit ihrer Debütsingle »The Lunatics (Have Taken Over The Asylum)« schnell die Top 40 der britischen Charts. Anfang ›82 folgten zwei UK Top 10 Singles mit Bananarama, »T'aint What You Do (It's The Way That You Do It)« und »Really Saying Something«. Weitere 7 Singles (»Summertime«, »The Tunnel of Love«, »Our Lips Are Sealed« etc.) und zwei Alben, »The Fun Boy Three« (1982) und »Waiting« (1983), letzteres produziert von Talking Heads-Frontmann David Byrne, wurden veröffentlicht, bevor sie im Sommer 1983 aufhörten.
»The Complete Fun Boy Three« enthält 69 Audiotracks, die alle offiziellen Aufnahmen (Alben / Singles / B-Seiten / Remixe / Live und bisher unveröffentlichte Outtakes) zusammenfassen. Die DVD mit 27 Tracks enthält alle Promo-Videos, Top Of The Pops-Auftritte und ein Live-Konzert von 1983.
