Die amerikanische Alternative-Metal-Band Fair To Midland veröffentlichte zwei Alben in Eigenregie, bevor sie beim Label Serjical Strike unterschrieb, das von System Of A Down-Sänger Serj Tankian betrieben wird. Das 2007 erschienene Album "Fables From a Mayfly: What I Tell You Three Times Is True" enthielt zwei Singles, "Dance of the Manatee" und "Tall Tales Taste Like Sour Grapes", die beide in den US-Rockcharts landeten. Produziert wurde das Album von David Bottrill, dem mehrfach mit dem Grammy ausgezeichneten Produzenten, der unter anderem mit Peter Gabriel, King Crimson, Tool, dEUS und Mastodon gearbeitet hat.
