Evan Dando meldete sich mit diesem Album 2003 zurück, nachdem er The Lemonheads 1997 aufgelöst hatte. Zuvor hatte er mit einer Tour und der dazugehörigen Doppel-CD »Live At The Brattle Theatre« seine Solokarriere angestoßen, aber »Baby I'm Bored« war sein Solodebüt mit neuen Songs.
Die autobiografischen und oft selbstironischen Songs präsentieren einen gereiften Dando, der mit diesem herausragenden Album die Grunge-Schublade endgültig schloss und sich ohne Band einem melodischen Alt-Country Rock Sound zuwendete. Das Album beinhaltet mit »Hard Drice« und »All My Life« zwei Songs, die Ben Lee produziert hat.
Weitere Mitwirkende sind Produzent / Komponist Jon Brion, Produzent Bryce Goggin, Tom Morgan, Giant Sand's Howe Gelb, Calexico's John Convertino und Joey Burns, ex-Spacehog Frontmann Royston Langdon, Come's Chris Brokaw und Arthur Johnson.
