Das von Matt Bayles (Minus The Bear, Mastodon, Mono) produzierte Album stellt einen Wendepunkt für das Bostoner Quintett dar, nicht nur, dass sie sich zum ersten Mal einem externen Produzenten anvertraut haben, auch inhaltlich und klanglich haben sie mit Waking Season ein Paket geschnürt, dass die musikalischen Grenzen ein weiteres Mal ausdehnt.
