Championed by many of those in the know, including Dave Edwards (Trojan box set compiler), Gaz Mayal and Steve Lamaqq, DJ Smiler (Rude News) describes them as "the best, most authentic ska ever played by white men" and have been referred to as "Oxford's Skatalites". If you liked the Two Tone ska revival of 30-odd years you'll adore the Nine Ton Peanut Smugglers. But these are guys who have been around the block a couple of times and absolutely know their music - and what they are doing here is music that will also satisfy the hardcore enthusiasts of Jamaican music, those who listened to it in the '60s and know the difference between authenticity and pastiche.
