At The Jazz Base! heißt das siebte Soloalbum von Gerald Veasley. Der mit Weather Report bekannt gewordenen Ausnahme-Bassisten spielte es im Herbst 2004 mit einem Nonett ein und strotzt bei dem Konzertmitschnitt regelrecht vor Spielfreude. Mit Schlagzeuger Eric Greene und Percussionist Pablo Batista bereitet er einen pulsierenden Rhythmusteppich aus, auf dem sich die drei Bläser und zwei Keyboarder austoben können. Und dies tun insbesondere Letztere mit feinen Soli auf der Hammondorgel. Das Ergebnis ist eine Fusion, bei der Jazz die Hauptrolle spielt.

At The Jazz Base really captures the excitement and spontaneity of my great band. It also is not limited by the usual restrictions of time and arrangements. When you hear the recording, you'll hear us just "going for it". Thanks to you the fans, after all, you asked for it! At The Jazz Base will be released July 26th, 2005.

It's my very own club! Every Thursday we present music at the Jazz Base which is in the Sheraton Reading. It's not only a great place for me to present my band and other special projects where I can stretch out, it's also an excellent venue for regional and national acts. This summer, we'll host concerts by Chuck Loeb, Nick Collione, Acoustic Alchemy, and a special CD release party for the release of my latest CD. The date? June 30th! (geraldveasley. com)
