Die junge, aufstrebende Pianistin Mishka Rushdie Momen gibt diesen Monat ein beeindruckendes Solodebüt bei SOMM. Sie ist keine Unbekannte bei SOMM und schloss sich 2018 zwei der besten Pianisten der Gegenwart – Valerie Tryon und Peter Donohoe – bei Mozarts schillerndem Klavierkonzert für drei Klaviere, K242 an.
Mishka studierte bei Joan Havill, Richard Goode und Imogen Cooper und wurde von Sir András Schiff betreut, der sie in Konzerten in ganz Europa und in New York für seine gefeierte Building Bridges-Reihe vorstellte.
Dieses hervorragend umgesetzte Konzert umfasst Variationen von Robert und Clara Schumann, Brahms und Mendelssohn sowie Erstaufnahmen von zwei neuen Werken, die Mishka speziell für diese Aufnahme in Auftrag gegeben hat, von Nico Muhly und Vijay Iyer. Ein einzelnes Thema aus Robert Schumanns Bunten Blättern gibt den Anstoß zu völlig unterschiedlichen, teils gegensätzlichen musikalischen Mutationen, deren Ergebnis gleichermaßen spannend wie faszinierend ist.
