Die österreichische Pianistin Senka Brankovic absolvierte ihre Studien am Mozarteum in Salzburg und an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien, wo ihre Lehrer Hans Leygraf, Hans Petermandl und Heinz Medjimorec waren. Für ihr nun erscheinendes Solo-Album sondiert die mit Lehraufträgen an der Universität der Künste Berlin sowie an der Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin ausgestattete Musikerin den Kosmos Johannes Brahms'. Neben den 7 Fantasien, op. 116 und den 4 Klavierstücken, op. 119 präsentiert Brankovic die Brahms-Variationen op. 57 des aus Ungarn stammenden Komponisten Ivan Eröd. 1990 von seinem Landsmann Andras Schiff in Auftrag gegeben, nimmt das Werk ein Thema aus dem bereits erklungenen Brahms'schen Intermezzo op. 116 / Nr. VI auf und überführt es in 13 stilistisch äußerst abwechslungsreiche Variationen; dabei sind zahlreiche weitere Zitate und Anklänge an verschiedenste Komponisten zu entdecken, wie zum Teil Satzbezeichnungen wie »(… der Vogel Arnold als Prophet...)« oder »Tempo di ›Radetzky Marsch « nahelegen.
