Biografie
Rodman Philbrick wuchs an der Küste Neuenglands auf. Schon in der sechsten Klasse begann er heimlich Geschichten zu schreiben. Für einen kleinen Jungen war dies nicht gerade eine normale Beschäftigung. Später versuchte er zunächst erfolglos seine Bücher zu veröffentlichen. Er gab jedoch die Hoffnung nicht auf und schrieb immer weiter. Seinen Lebensunterhalt verdiente er sich als Hafenarbeiter, Schiffsbauer und Tischler. Nachdem er ein Dutzend weitere Romane für Erwachsene geschrieben hatte, bat ihn ein Verleger eine Detetivgeschichte für Jugendliche zu schreiben. Roman Philbrick war zunächst nicht daran interessiert, doch eine innere Stimme überredete ihn dazu sein erstes Buch für Jugendliche zu schreiben. Der Autor wohnt mit seiner Frau in Maine und auf den Florida Keys.
