One of the most important literary works of the ancient world, The Aeneidis an action-packed journey from the fall of Troy to the founding of Rome. Composed by the Roman poet Virgil in 29--19 BCE, it follows the legendary fortunes of the Trojan hero and demigod Aeneas. Fleeing the violent destruction of Troy by the Greeks (and their famous wooden horse), he gathers Trojan survivors and embarks on a perilous voyage across the Mediterranean in search of a new homeland for his people. Throughout his quest he grapples with love and loss, men and monsters, and the vengeful wrath of the goddess Juno, until courage and destiny lead him to new shores, where he'll plant the seeds of a mighty empire. In this exquisitely rendered, extensively researched graphic novel, Gareth Hinds captures the emotional complexity of Virgil's masterpiece and the enduring questions raised by its text, making another epic adventure accessible to a wide audience. A visual feast for lovers of history, mythology, art, and literature.
