It was inevitable that, in the thousands of cases successfully handled by Holmes, there would occasionally be some in which the events would continue beyond what Watson initially recorded, or that an individual from a past investigation would turn up as part of a new adventure. In 1928, Watson selected a dozen of these stories for publication, all being connected one way or another to past Canonical tales . . . but that book was never published. Now, after nearly one-hundred years, those twelve narratives can finally be revealed.
