Ian Hamilton, geboren 1946 in Toronto, war Journalist und schrieb für zahlreiche kanadische Tageszeitungen und Magazine, bevor er für die kanadische Regierung und als Geschäftsmann in unterschiedlichsten Bereichen arbeitete. Über 20 Jahre lang hatte er geschäftlich mit dem asiatischen Raum zu tun und war stets weltweit unterwegs. Heute lebt er mit seiner Frau in Burlington, Ontario.
