The basics of cello technique are worked on in selected studies, with the focus being not only on the ability to learn a technically and musically oriented text within a reasonable time but also on the solution of certain problems typical of the cello. Vol. 1 covers aspects ranging from the orientation on the fingerboard via changes of position, vibrato and trills to changes of strings and double stops. Vol. 2 deals with fingerings, whole-bow stroke, dynamics, articulation and types of bowing, among others. The final volume contains studies on legato, arpeggios, chords, martellato, staccato, spiccato and changes of rhythm. The accompanying volume of commentaries describes in detail the methodological practising processes.

Beschreibung
Etüden spielen eine wichtige Rolle in der Instrumentalausbildung. In Ergänzung zu seinem erfolgreichen Buch Cello üben (ED 8714) wendet sich Gerhard Mantel daher dem Thema Etüden üben (3 Bände) zu. In ausgewählten Etüden werden die Grundlagen der Cellotechnik erarbeitet. Dabei geht es neben der Fähigkeit, sich einen musikalisch-technisch ausgerichteten Text in einer überschaubaren Zeit anzueignen, auch um die Lösung bestimmter cellistischer Aufgaben. Der Inhalt des 1. Bandes erstreckt sich von der Orientierung auf dem Griffbrett über Lagenwechsel, Vibrato und Triller hin zu Saitenwechseln und Doppelgriffen. Im zweiten Band geht es u. a. um Fingersätze, Ganzbogenstrich, Dynamik, Artikulation und Stricharten. Der abschließende Band beinhaltet u. a. Etüden zu den Themen Legato, Arpeggien, Akkorde, Martellato, Staccato, Spiccato und Rhythmuswechsel. Der zugehörige Kommentarband (für alle drei Hefte) beschreibt die detaillierten methodischen Übeprozesse.
Schwierigkeitsgrad: 3 'Practicing Etudes' is a four-volume educational work on all aspects of cello technique.
The studies are arranged according to the types of problems and deal systematically with all major issues (dexterity, change of strings, double stops), etc. This is a totally new approach which has not existed like this in previous collections of studies. The material addresses each pupil and his / her problems specifically and individually.
The exercise material is accompanied by a book providing methodological information and practical tips. This volume of commentaries is available in German or English.
Due to its logical structure, the study material is a 'practical cello method' and practice manual: you learn how to work on specific problems and which steps to take to solve them.
