Wilco goes Indie: Achtes Album der amerikanischen Indierock-Stars jetzt auf dem eigenen Label dBpm Records in Zusammenarbeit mit Anti. "The Whole Love" ist mehr als das achte Wilco-Album. Es steht für ein weiteres Kapitel in der Geschichte der erfolgreichen Rockband (mehr als 3,3 Millionen verkaufte Tonträger).

So wie der Abschied von Warner Brothers anlässlich der (Nicht-)Veröffentlichung von "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" 2001 zu einer spannenden und sogar verfilmten Geschichte wurde, positioniert sich eine der besten US-Indierock-Bands zehn Jahre später mit einer eigenen Plattenfirma (dBpm Records) neu. Aufgenommen von Tom Schick in Wilcos Loft in Chicago verbinden die zwölf Songs das künstlerische Feingefühl der Band, ihre Hingabe zu traditioneller amerikanischer Musik und ihre Liebe zum klassischen, gitarrenorientierten Poprock. Eine starke Mischung, die vom musikalischen Können der Band (von Streichern bis Loops kommt fast alles zum Einsatz) und Jeff Tweedys einfühlsamen Texten zusammengehalten wird.

The Chicago rock band Wilco release their eighth studio album - The Whole Love - in September through their newly launched dBpm Records. It follows the band’s 2009 Grammy-nominated Wilco (The Album) and was recorded at the band’s Chicago recording studio The Loft. The Whole Love features 12 new original tunes and is produced by Jeff Tweedy with Patrick Sansone and Tom Schick.
The Whole Love is a veritable sonic stew, showcasing Wilco’s far-reaching musical prowess (multiple guitars, keyboards, synthesizers and percussion plus Mellotron, strings, loops and more) perfectly accompanying Jeff Tweedy’s provocative and insightful lyrics. The Whole Love opens with the seven-minute “Art of Almost” and concludes with the twelve-minute “One Sunday Morning (Song For Jane Smiley’s Boyfriend).” In between: 10 adventurous tunes (each clocking in at four minutes or less) including the current single, “I Might” which was released this past weekend at the band’s Solid Sound Festival.
