Songwriting genius Jason Molina & Friends usher in a new day playing cool 70's influenced rock. Somewhere between Bob Dylan's "Desire" and Bob Seger's "Beautiful Loser", though thematically in-line with Lynard Skynard's "Simple Man", THE MAGNOLIA ELECTRIC CO combines working class rock, white soul, swamp rock and outlaw country. 6 of the 8 Songs have Molina on lead vocals backed up by Jennie Benford, Miss Scout Niblett & Lawrence Peters share the leadsinging part on the other 2. Recorded live by STEVE ALBINI at his E. A. Studio in Chicago, Illinois, with the same core back-up band as on the "Italian" live album. SONGS: OHIA present some of their most upbeat material to date.
