»Egal ob Blues, Folk, Jazz, Rhythm & Blues, Country & Western, Rock & Roll oder Pop - die Liebe spielte immer eine Rolle: Die Hauptrolle!!! So ist es nicht verwunderlich, dass bestimmte Mädchennamen als Titelzeilen für Songs verwendet wurden. So besang Buddy Holly seine ›Peggy Sue‹, Paul Anka bekniete ›Diana‹, Ritchie Valens schmachtete ›Donna‹ an und Hank Ballard & The Midnighters forderten unverholen: ›Work With Me Annie‹. Es waren aber nicht immer reine Liebeslieder.
So machten sich einige Interpreten über bestimmte Mädchen sogar lustig, hier einige Beispiele aus dieser Zusammenstellung: Larry Williams ›Short Fat Fannie‹ und ›Bony Maronie‹, Johnny Otis ›Mumblin¿ Mosie‹ und auch Bill Haley und seine Mannen belächelten ›Skinny Minnie‹. Von einigen dieser Songs gab es, wegen des großen Erfolges in den einschlägigen Charts, sogar Fortsetzungen: Buddy Holly ›Peggy Sue Got Married‹ und Hank Ballard & The Midnighters lieferten das Ergebnis aus ›Work With Me Annie‹ nach, der Titel hieß dann ›Annie Had A Baby‹ - noch Fragen???
