Nach seinem Acoustic-Music-Debüt ,The Blues ls Back!' stellt Lane nun sein neues Werk ,72 Miles From Memphis' vor.
The blues has a long tradition in Memphis, Tennessee. In great part due to musical legends like Howlin' Wolf and B, B. King. Ernest Lane was born exactly 72 miles away, in Clarkesdale, Mississippi. And he is also one of the last, original blues veterans, a singer and pianist, who has already played for icons like lke Turner, Canned Heat and The Monkeys.
After his Acoustic Music debut, "The Blues ls Back!", Lane is now presenting his new work, "72 Miles From Memphis". Once again, he demonstrates his incomparably grooving, powerful blues piano style, with a naturalness and emotion that one can only have come from growing up in the southern States. And those who have heard Lanes voice know that this man lives the blues. After all, he took them in with his mother's milk. His father was a barrelhouse pianist, and the legendary Pinetop Perkins was a friend of the family. Today, Lane himself is reverently referred to as the "boogie-woogie blues piano master". Lane, recording here with a gang of adept musician friends, makes the blues ring out in lively fashion and serves them up with a terrific helping of vintage vibe. "72 Miles From Memphis" shows Ernest Lane travelling on the blues highway. And it once again reveals why he has a top reputation in the scene.
(Good Times, Oktober / November 2011)
