Die Queen of Jazz und "Satchmo" hatten schon früher in ihrer illustren Karriere ein Duett aufgenommen. Aber erst als der Produzent Norman Granz auf die Idee kam, die beiden für bestimmte Alben zusammenzubringen, kam ihre wahre Chemie zum Vorschein. Die Platinum Collection enthält die beiden legendären Alben Ella & Louis und Ella & Louis Again. Auf beiden Alben spielen die Jazz At The Phil-Stammgäste Oscar Peterson (Klavier), Herb Ellis (Gitarre), Ray Brown (Bass) und Buddy Rich (Schlagzeug) mit Ausnahme von Louis Bellson, der Buddy Rich auf Ella & Louis Again ersetzt.
