Rezensionen
"Andreas Öberg’s – “Six String Evolution” is absolutely superb. It’s like this jazz enthusiast, if you love guitar with terrific ensemble play then I’m sure this album will make a great addition to your music collection. On “Evolution,” Öberg infuses his unrivaled dexterity to these eleven attractive compositions that are played and arranged by some of the finest musicians in the industry. Öberg essentially accomplishes his mission with “Six String Evolution” he advances his unlimited voice through the sphere of this intrepid musical excursion. Recommended exclusively for jazz enthusiasts!" (theurbanflux.com)"In Brazilian tones with his acoustic guitar, or alongside the pleasant and formidable Meader, Oberg proves compatible in styles that are more commercial, yet artistic. He's a work in progress, making inroads on developing a personal approach, and a player to watch for 2010 and beyond." (allmusic.com)
"Oberg immerses himself in a variety of jazz styles on this album, playing "Madame Grenouille" in a strictly straight ahead fashion (with classical overtones) and then switching to funk on "Archibald's Dance." There is a little of everything mixed up here, exemplified by the lushly arranged "Brother to Brother," a Gino Vanelli tune enhanced with strings. This was a huge platinum pop hit for Vanelli in the late 70's. It's a good choice, with Oberg's guitar solo particularly compelling on this song, as is the piano solo by Dave Kikoski." (lajazz.com)
"In his sophomore effort for Resonance Records, Oberg has fashioned an impressive and melodious assortment of songs. Utilizing a versatile lineup of expert musicians, the music is lush, full, but never overwhelmed by its own abundance. With a generous 11-song tracklist, Oberg is able to demonstrate his mastery of guitar technique and musical styles. There is a plethora of harmonic playing by the ensemble, enhancing the subtle, yet meticulous production. " (audaud.com)
