Biografie
Ursula K. Le Guin, 1929 in Kalifornien geboren, gehört zu den höchstdekorierten zeitgenössischen Schriftstellerinnen Amerikas. Ihre Romane Winterplanet und Planet der Habenichste wurden jeweils mit dem Hugo und dem Nebula Award als beste Romane des Jahres ausgezeichnet. Mit dem Erdsee-Zyklus schuf sie das herausragendste singuläre Werk der modernen Fantasy. Ihr Gesamtwerk, das auch Gedichte, Kinderbücher und Essays umfaßt, wurde mit allen bedeutenden Genre-Preisen geehrt und war u. a. für den National Book Award, den American Book Award und den Pulitzerpreis nominiert.
