Understanding Ambedkar, Gebunden

Klappentext

This book seeks to understand Ambedkar through his conceptual engagements and ultimate goal of human emancipation. Recognizing the renewed interest among youth to know and engage with Ambedkar's work, this book examines the methodological aspects of reading and contextualizing Ambedkar. Simultaneously, it explores vital concepts-including fraternity, caste, nation, religion, gender, democracy, tribal identity, and student movements-while arguing for the need to construct broader solidarity. Each concept holds contemporary significance, and understanding Babasaheb's interventions on these themes is essential for grasping potential solutions to the complexities arising from these conceptual categories.

This volume situates Ambedkar not only within the socio-historical context of his time but also within the contours of contemporary Indian democracy. If the constitution is the supreme text in a democratic polity, then understanding the endeavors of its "chief architect" in establishing that supreme authority becomes an indispensable duty for anyone attempting to grasp the nuances of Indian society. This work will be of great interest to young students and researchers across humanities and social science departments due to its interdisciplinary and creative research orientation.
