A twisted tale of love, murder, and the most authentic true crime podcast ever created.

Devin is starting the hottest new true crime podcast. She's got the ideal small-town setting: Mapledale, with its pumpkin patches and postcard-perfect fall festival. The format is nailed down. She's even scoping out cohosts to banter with. There's only one problem: there haven't been any murders. Yet. Luckily, Devin's never been afraid to tackle a DIY project. But the sign of a good entrepreneur is knowing when to delegate...

Enter Theo, a charming barista with a tragic backstory and a string of meaningless flings. He's desperate for love; she's desperate for an accomplice. It's a match made in mayhem.

Devin cosplays as Theo's dream girl in order to win his loyalty, leading him from cozy hayrides to committing cold-blooded murders. As the bodies pile up and the downloads skyrocket, Devin's only concern is keeping the story---and the killings---fresh for listeners. Until she finds herself more entrenched in this bad romance than she expected.

Theo's devotion runs deeper than Devin ever anticipated, and his need to prove himself might just unravel her perfect plan. With the Mapledale Sheriff's Department closing in and Theo's obsession growing darker, Devin begins to worry that he's gone from her greatest asset to her biggest liability. Meanwhile, Theo wonders if he can ever compete with Devin's first love: murder.

Perfect for fans of:

• slasher romance
• morally black main characters who make each other worse
• sharp as a knife satire
• spooky fall festival settings
• golden retriever boyfriends who don't know their girlfriends are murderers...yet
