Systems, Decision and Control in Energy VIII. Volume III: Energy and Environmental Safety presents a systematic overview of contemporary approaches to the development of sustainable, resilient, and environmentally responsible energy systems. The volume integrates recent advances in nuclear and renewable power engineering with modern methodologies for environmental monitoring, risk assessment, and safety management.
The book is structured into three interconnected thematic sections: Nuclear Power Engineering, Renewable Power Engineering, and Environmental Safety.
The first section addresses key challenges of nuclear energy development, including reactor technology assessment, structural reliability under emergency conditions, radiation protection materials, and integrated approaches to nuclear and radiation safety. Particular attention is devoted to advanced materials, multi-level risk analysis, and international practices in radiation regulation.
The second section focuses on analytical, computational, and optimization methods for integrating renewable energy sources into modern power systems. Contributions examine wind and solar energy modeling, hybrid energy systems, energy storage requirements, photovoltaic diagnostics, and biomass-based technologies, highlighting the growing role of data-driven and intelligent approaches in low-carbon energy transitions.
The third section emphasizes ecological resilience and sustainable resource management. Topics include environmental monitoring, climate-related risks, hydrological forecasting, contamination assessment, seismic hazards, and the application of artificial intelligence in environmental management and water treatment optimization.
The volume will be valuable for researchers, engineers, policymakers, and practitioners working in the fields of energy systems, environmental protection, sustainability, and technological safety.
