Sustainable Development with Carbon Capture, Gebunden

Klappentext

This volume 2 " Sustainable Development with Carbon Capture : Materials, Industrial Infrastructure and Environmental Footprint **"**serves as a definitive technical compendium for the next generation of engineers and researchers committed to global decarbonization. As the transition toward a Net-Zero economy accelerates, Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Sequestration has emerged as a non-negotiable thermodynamic and infrastructural imperative. This book provides a rigorous, 25-chapter exploration of the carbon value chain, moving beyond high-level climate discourse to address the granular engineering challenges of atmospheric remediation. Curated specifically for senior undergraduate, postgraduate, Ph. D. scholars, senior researchers, scientists, professors across diverse disciplines including mechanical, chemical, civil, and environmental engineering the text bridges the gap between laboratory-scale synthesis and the multi-scale deployment of carbon-neutral industrial ecosystems.

The volume is strategically organized into three thematic sections to ensure a logical progression from molecular science to system-level integration. Section 1: Innovative Materials and Technologies for Carbon Capture and Emission Reduction establishes the foundational materials science, focusing on the development of high-selectivity Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs), amine-functionalized sorbents, and advanced membrane separation technologies. This section addresses the critical need to reduce the energetic penalties of post-combustion capture and explores the kinetics of Direct Air Capture (DAC). Section 2: Advancements, Infrastructure, and Industrial Applications of Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage pivots toward the "hard-to-abate" sectors, detailing the structural requirements for supercritical CO2 pipeline networks. By examining the conversion of CO2 into high-value chemical feedstocks like green methanol and carbonates, this section highlights the shift from carbon disposal to a profitable Circular Carbon Economy.

Finally, Section 3: Emerging Technologies and Smart Solutions in CCUS and Environmental Sustainability integrate Industry 5.0 digital tools with environmental stewardship. It explores the implementation of Digital Twins, AI-driven optimization for capture plants, and blockchain-enabled carbon accounting to ensure transparency in global emission markets. By synthesizing materials science, process systems engineering, and data-driven environmental management, this book serves as an essential academic roadmap for achieving long-term climate resilience and industrial sustainability across the global landscape.
