Shajulin Benedict: Designing IoT Applications with Serverless Concepts and Open Source Tools, Gebunden

Klappentext

This work explains step-by-step development and implementation of serverless functions at sensor, edge, and cloud levels for IoT-enabled applications, addressing data privacy, cost inefficiency, and scalability challenges. It discusses the systematic deployment of serverless functions across sensor nodes, edge clusters, and cloud infrastructure using open-source tools such as ESP-IDF, WasmEdge, and OpenFaaS. It covers key topics including edge-fog-cloud computing, IoT communication protocols (MQTT, LoRa, Zigbee, etc.), benchmarking methods, and performance comparisons. It highlights the integration of serverless concepts to build efficient computing platforms, drawing on insights from collaborative research with leading universities.

• Discusses the application of serverless functions on edge-enabled clusters, such as Raspberry Pi clusters mounted at our research labs.
• Details exploration of IoT communication protocols and offers benchmarking methodologies for evaluating serverless IoT systems.
• Expresses the utilization of open-source tools and frameworks to activate serverless functions in IoT-enabled applications.
• Explains future directions for scalable and efficient IoT application development.

This book is for professionals, academicians, and students interested in IoT-enabled applications.
