Klappentext
This book tells the adventurous story of fascist broadcaster Lisa Sergio (1905--1989), a prominent, female broadcaster in the English language under Mussolini's fascist rule in Italy. Nicknamed by foreign newspapers as "the golden voice" of Mussolini's regime, the Florentine journalist of American descent had an influential role in the fascist radio. This work documents her life and work in Italy and as well as her career since 1937 in America as an advocate for democracy. The biography highlights her acquisition of an impressive network of relationships, including that of Eleanor Roosevelt, former first lady of the United States.
This work sheds light on the life and work of this influential broadcaster who has, since, been largely forgotten in spite of her impact on the mass communications world. Lisa Sergio, her life -- lived half in Italy and half in the USA -- allows the readers to better understand many aspects of the relationship between the two countries during the so-called "short century".
