Klappentext

The US military was strictly segregated during the Second World War. Still, tens of thousands of Black men and women served, including in combat roles. Dedicated Black units existed in the Army, Army Air Forces, Navy, and Coast Guard. These units deployed in both the European and Pacific Theaters.

This work provides a historical survey of these units, across the various branches of the military, through photographs. The photographs are accompanied by detailed captions and a concise contextual narrative. It serves as an excellent introduction to the topic and also as an illustrated companion to the various military, political, and social histories in print.
