Klappentext
What did the Belvedere in Vienna look like in the time of Prince Eugene? Which treasures were housed in the state rooms? Which animals inhabited the menagerie and the garden? How has this unique complex changed over the last three hundred years?
The views created by the veduta artist Salomon Kleiner between 1731 and 1740 offer a fascinating glimpse into the High Baroque palace complex. These richly detailed prints not only document the architecture and garden design but also the world of one of Europe's most significant military commanders and art collectors. A richly illustrated journey through art, architecture, the passion for collecting, and Baroque culture of representation.
