Klappentext
We are honored to have artist Taylor Stoneman's "What We Did To The Earth, We Did To Our Daughters" as the cover image of Raleigh Review 16.2. In Stoneman's piece, we see reflections of our own feelings about a beautiful world in turmoil, themes that often take shape in the fiction and poetry we share with you in our issues.
A very special thanks to Taylor, who we came to know thanks to our Geri Digiorno Multi-genre Prize submissions in 2025. The prize runs every odd year and will open to submissions again on New Year's Day of 2027. Artists, please send us your work!
The benefits from the Geri Digiorno Prize keep expanding. As one of the first multi-genre contests, our prize now includes opportunities for singers / songwriters who also happen to be multi-genre literary and / or visual artists. At Raleigh Review, we will advise artists through the copyrighting process and help them find a radio platform for their music.
Also, there are opportunities for the Digiorno prize winners to be invited for the Petaluma Poetry Walk held every September in California. In addition to serving as our cover artist in our first decade, Geri launched the Petaluma Poetry Walk, where she served as Sonoma Poet Laureate, so there are unofficial links from this amazing lady that are going coast to coast.
Raleigh Review's special connection with Geri was initiated thanks to our emeritus board members, the amazing Dorianne Laux and Joseph Millar, who now live out west. Our lives are all the better because Dorianne and Joseph invested their time and talent in our magazine. We continue to honor their legacy with the Laux & Millar Raleigh Review Prize. Our first book will be released in February 2027, Raleigh Review's 17th anniversary year.
Please turn to the back of this issue for a sneak peek of work by our next cover artist Nora Beers Kelly of Quebec. Nora designed our organizational logo and has served as the Raleigh Review illustrator for much of the last decade. We are thrilled to welcome her as our next cover artist.
As Raleigh Review turns seventeen in 2027, our hope is the magazine will continue to grow as a welcoming platform for artists and writers and as a joyful and moving work of art for you, the reader.
We hope you enjoy this one and that you'll consider sending a copy to your loved ones for the holidays.
