Ragnvald Karl Olav Høier (30 November 1938 - 23 October 2009) was a Norwegian physicist. He graduated from the University of Oslo with the cand. real. degree in 1965, and took the dr. philos. degree in 1973. He was appointed as professor at the Norwegian Institute of Technology (later known as Norwegian University of Science and Technology) in 1983. He was also involved at SINTEF. The University of Oslo (Norwegian: Universitetet i Oslo, Latin: Universitas Osloensis) is the oldest, largest and most prestigious university in Norway, situated in the Norwegian capital of Oslo. It was founded in 1811 as The Royal Frederick University (in Norwegian Det Kongelige Frederiks Universitet and in Latin Universitas Regia Fredericiana). The university was modelled after the recently established University of Berlin, and originally named after King Frederick of Denmark and Norway. It received its current name in 1939.
