Rachael Thrash: Let the Learners Lead, Kartoniert / Broschiert

Klappentext

When schools trust young people with meaningful influence, they don't just prepare students for the future-they co-create it.

Today's world demands leaders who can collaborate across differences, solve complex problems, and strengthen community well-being. Yet most schools still rely on leadership models rooted in competition, scarcity, and hierarchy-rewarding a select few while sending others the message that leadership is not for them. Let Learners Lead challenges this status quo by positioning student leadership as a collective responsibility and a source of school improvement. It invites schools to break free from traditional hierarchies, foster belonging, and co-create a culture where every voice matters.

Blending personal experience with insights from youth development research, the book demonstrates how co-creation transforms school culture, so students discover the impact of their ideas, adults become more attuned to student experience, and communities grow more connected and equitable. Combining case studies from diverse schools, interviews with experts and young leaders, and actionable tools, the chapters offer a step-by-step approach to making student leadership inclusive, relational, and real. Educators will learn how to elevate overlooked voices, distribute responsibility, and celebrate student contributions to inspire collective purpose.

Including ready-to-use templates, activities, and frameworks, this is essential reading for school leaders and educators who are seeking practical strategies to improve school culture, foster inclusive student leadership, and support student engagement.
