Paul R Bartrop: Women and the Holocaust, Gebunden

Klappentext

Examining the Holocaust through the lives of more than 100 women, this volume highlights experiences of resistance, rescue, persecution, survival, and complicity across Europe during the Nazi era.

Women and the Holocaust brings together the stories of women whose lives intersected with the Holocaust in profoundly different ways. Through alphabetically arranged entries, readers encounter diarists such as Anne Frank and Hélène Berr; rescuers including Miep Gies, Irena Sendler, and Corrie ten Boom; resistance figures such as Sophie Scholl, Hannah Szenes, and Zivia Lubetkin; survivors including Eva Mozes Kor and Anita Lasker-Wallfisch; and perpetrators such as Irma Grese and Ilse Koch.

Representing a wide range of experiences, these biographies illuminate the challenges, choices, acts of courage, and suffering that shaped women's lives during the Holocaust. Together, the entries demonstrate the diverse roles women occupied as victims, witnesses, rescuers, resisters, survivors, and perpetrators.
