15th century. The young Clémence de Saint-Sulpice arrives in Paris when the abbey where she was born and raised is destroyed. Searching for a purpose in her life, she is fascinated by the unique personality of Christine de Pizan, who is being harassed by the city's most learned men. Pizan has dared to criticize Jean de Meun's work The Romance of the Rose because of the author's denigration of women in its pages. When participation in the debate leads to harassment of the writer, Clémence will use all her imagination to help defend her against those who so unjustly attack her. To do so, she will create the Order of the Rose, but will she succeed in silencing the abusive voices raised against her?
