Klappentext

When Grenada's National Reparations Committee invited members of the Trevelyan family to come to the eastern Caribbean island in 2023 and apologize to the people of Grenada for the actions of their English enslaver ancestors, the historic ceremony made headlines around the world. Never before had descendants of enslavers in the British Caribbean publicly apologized for the crimes against humanity committed by their ancestors and pledged to pay reparations. Entangled Past is the behind-the-scenes story of the Trevelyan family apology and decision to pay reparations, told by the two women who were midwives to the event - Grenadian historian Nicole Phillip and British American journalist Laura Trevelyan. This is a story told from Nicole and Laura's two very different perspectives, combining a first-hand account of how Grenadians worked with the Trevelyan family with a historical overview of Grenada and Britain's entangled past.
