A novel of ambition, love, and betrayal in the Tudor court
A broken heart. A shattered dream. A future she never expected...
Fresh from her time in the dazzling courts of Europe, Anne Boleyn returns to England with charm, wit, and an ambition she dares not reveal. Her place at court and her future in Ireland seem secure. But when a forbidden love affair threatens scandal, Anne is dismissed and disgraced.
Then King Henry VIII takes notice.
Captivated by Anne's beauty and boldness, the king is determined to have her-not as his mistress, but as his queen. Yet his wife, Queen Katherine of Aragon, stands in his way... and so does the Church. In a kingdom still firmly Catholic, Henry's obsession with Anne now acts as a smouldering tinder, igniting a political and religious fire that threatens to tear England apart.
Set against the glittering and dangerous backdrop of Tudor England , The Falcon's Triumph is a gripping tale of love, power, and the woman who would change history.
Perfect for fans of Philippa Gregory , Hilary Mantel , and immersive Tudor historical fiction.
Why write about Anne Boleyn's story from her return to England to her coronation?
For me, it was the obvious progression from book two - The Falcon's Flight. In this new book, 'The Falcon's Triumph', Anne has now returned from the French court to the English court. Because Henry's interest in her was not immediate, I sought to investigate those early years before he became attracted to her. These were carefree days, with Anne's future very much undecided.
I wanted to lay out some background on what was going on in her own life and at court before she became involved with the king. These were also the years when her marriage to James Butler was being negotiated and when her romance with Henry Percy took place. In addition, I wished to focus on this part of Anne's life for the challenge, since all Tudor lovers are familiar with the story of Anne and Henry. The question became: What could I add that had not already been written about? It turned out to be quite a daunting task, but the information I discovered certainly challenged some of my previous ideas.
