'The new moon is a time for a fresh start, the perfect day to try something you've never done before'

Each morning on the outskirts of Tokyo, a mysterious podcaster broadcasts live from a bamboo forest.

No one knows who he is or where he comes from. Each episode explores the moon: its cycles and phases, its science and astrology, and the celestial folklore it has inspired for centuries.

Across the city, five strangers are listening.

A dedicated nurse who has just quit her job.

A failing comedian who cannot give up on his dream.

A motorcycle mechanic struggling with his changing relationship with his wife and daughter.

A high-school girl longing for independence from her parents.

A jewellery artist trying to balance her growing success with the rest of her life.

As the moon waxes and wanes, each finds something in the mysterious broadcasts that speaks directly to the life they are living. And, in ways none of them can yet see, their stories are beginning to connect.

Full of Michiko Aoyama's signature insight into the human connections hidden within ordinary life, TALKING IN A MOONLIT FOREST is a luminous novel about change, second chances and the unexpected ways we find one another.

How will their lives connect?
