Michael Chang: Boys of the Earth, Kartoniert / Broschiert

Klappentext

Like O'Hara and Big L sharing a cab, Michael Chang unites battle-MC energy with New York School sensibility.

"Michael Chang is back, with their signature irrepressibility: the voice that bubbles with endlessly exuberant wit, encyclopedic pop culture references, playful orthography, and intense emotion. Oh, yes---these poems are in their feelings!"---Evie Shockley, author of Suddenly We

Like the red spot on Saturn, queer Chinese American provocateur Michael Chang continues to storm their way through the universe of contemporary poetry, with scant regard for the niceties of well-behaved verse. Boys of the Earth finds the caustic flaneur robbing every register of language from internet speak to gay slang, from Latin classicism to bodega signage, in the service of a bruising bricolage of poetic praxis. Ready-made banalities like "thank for your service" or "we buy gold" jostle with raunchy sex talk, pop culture references, and the occasional Chinese character, with anarchic glee*. Boys of the Earth* reveals a poet at the height of their powers, steeped in poetic lineage and armed with astonishing assurance and a mandate to never be boring. Read 'em and weep!
