'A European Unemployment Insurance Scheme? A Contribution to the Socio-Political Competence Structure of the European Union': To stabilize the economic and monetary union, the introduction of a European Unemployment Insurance Scheme is proposed. The thesis deals with the question of its introduction and shows that, although the European Union has no competence in the context of economic and monetary union, it does have competence in the context of its assigned social policy responsibilities under Article 153 TFEU. It then goes on to outline possibilities for its introduction via differentiated integration.
