Luisa Figini, born in 1954 and based in her native Swiss canton of Ticino, works with an intuitive and poetic perception of space and other people, integrating sensory experiences. She draws on various contemporary artistic movements-such as Arte Povera, conceptual art, and video art-and transforms them. Figini's art has evolved from early figurative works in clay and terracotta to installations that she composes from synthetic and natural materials such as wax, hair, intestines, or paper, as well as video and audio elements. Her most recent work is hybrid in nature, combining moving images with painting and drawing.

This first monograph on Luisa Figini charts her career spanning over decades and situates it within the Swiss contemporary art scene. It features an extensive selection from her oeuvre, supplemented by previously unpublished materials from her archive.
