Lauren Child, geboren 1967, wuchs in Wiltshire auf, einer Grafschaft im Süden Englands. Sie studierte an der City and Guilds Art School in London. Danach hatte sie verschiedene Jobs, bis sie 1999 ihr erstes Kinderbuch veröffentlichte.
