Biografie (Julio Cortázar)
Julio Cortazar wurde 1914 in Brüssel geboren und zog im Alter von vier Jahren mit seinen argentinischen Eltern nach Buenos Aires. Dort absolvierte er eine Ausbildung zum Grundschullehrer. 1938 erschien ein erster Gedichtband, und 1944 veröffentlichte er seine erste Erzählung. 1951 ging Cortazar nach Paris, wo er bis 1974 als Übersetzer für die UNESCO tätig war. In Paris verfasste er auch den Roman "Rayuela" (dt. Rayuela. Himmel und Hölle), der in den sechziger Jahren zum Kultbuch einer ganzen Generation von Intellektuellen und Studenten wurde. Seit Mitte der sechziger Jahre begann sein internationaler Ruf stetig zu wachsen. Er wurde bald zu einem der originellsten und kreativsten Autoren Lateinamerikas und zu einem der bedeutendsten Autoren des 20. Jahrhunderts. Julio Cortazar starb am 12. Februar 1984 in Paris.
