Klappentext
A mysterious sea monster, a daring expedition, and the astonishing submarine Nautilus draw readers into one of the greatest adventure novels ever written. When ships around the world report terrifying encounters with an unknown creature, Professor Pierre Aronnax joins an expedition to hunt the menace. Instead, he discovers Captain Nemo, a brilliant and dangerous man who has turned his back on the surface world and built a secret kingdom beneath the sea. Jules Verne's classic novel combines ocean adventure, scientific imagination, undersea exploration, political mystery, and the unforgettable figure of Nemo himself. As Aronnax, Conseil, and Ned Land travel aboard the Nautilus, they witness coral forests, lost ships, polar ice, strange creatures, pearl fisheries, volcanic depths, and the wonders and dangers of the deep. The voyage is thrilling, but it is also shadowed by Nemo's secrecy, grief, anger, and war against the world above. First published in 1870, 20, 000 Leagues Under the Sea remains one of Verne's most famous works and a landmark of early science fiction. It is essential reading for fans of classic adventure, sea stories, submarine fiction, exploration, scientific romance, and imaginative literature that turns discovery into wonder.
