Jonathan Looper: It's Not (Just) About the Range Rover, Kartoniert / Broschiert

Klappentext

From growing up gay in small-town Oklahoma to the lights of Los Angeles, Jonathan spent years chasing the life he thought would make him happy: success, a beautiful home, a Range Rover, and a life in Malibu with the love of his life Vadim. Then, one by one, those things disappeared-their home burned, their money ran out, then while dealing with housing insecurity, Jonathan was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer. Somewhere in all of that, through people who loved them and strangers who showed kindness, Jonathan began to understand that the life he had been looking for was already there.

At its core, this deeply personal memoir is about finding meaning when hope is scarce. It is a story about love - and how kindness and love from friends and strangers can save a life.

While battling Stage 3 cancer, Jonathan reflects on a life shaped by extraordinary highs and devastating losses: growing up gay in small-town Oklahoma, struggling with mental health challenges while pursuing a career in politics, that led to a detour to Los Angeles, where he found love at first sight. Together, they built a life, lost everything in the Malibu wildfires, rebuilt, and then lost it all again. Just as they were trying to find their way forward, cancer brought an entirely new battle.

The Range Rovers are the vehicle for the story, but this isn't really a story about them. They represent a dream-the American Dream-and the complicated reality of trying to hold onto that dream in a world where financial security can feel increasingly out of reach. Ultimately, this is a story about love, loss, resilience, and the people who help us find meaning when everything is lost.

For anyone who's wondered "What now" or even "Why me," It's Not (Just) About the Range Rover is funny, surprising, and most of all inspiring. This heartwarming book is an invitation to celebrate what's really important in life.
