Jeff Apter: A Pure Drop, Kartoniert / Broschiert

Klappentext

Meticulously researched and full of insight into Buckley's life and musical legacy, A Pure Drop is a sensitive, compelling portrait of a genius taken too soon.

"Jeff Buckley was a pure drop in an ocean of noise." --BONO

During his thirty years, Jeff Scott Buckley lived many lives: suburban loner, music school misfit, rock and roll gypsy. His real life was only revealed after his tragic death, more than 10 years ago in the Mississippi river, hours before he was due to start rehearsals for the follow up album to his iconic, sole album, Grace.

This meticulous study of Buckley's life draws on personal letters and the recollections of dozens of his friends and lovers as well as his fellow musicians. A Pure Drop explores his ongoing battles with the concept of stardom, his desire for escape and the attempts to deal with the unavoidable legacy of his equally gifted father, 60s folk hero, Tim Buckley.

Apter's book unravels the complex and sometimes contradictory threads of Buckley's life from his enduring mythology, to build a compelling picture of one of rock's incandescent and timeless talents.
