Biografie (Jane Goodall)
Jane Goodall, geb. 1934 in England, reiste 1957 nach Afrika und arbeitete als Verhaltensforscherin im Gombe-Nationalpark, Tansania. Parallel hierzu studierte sie Ethnologie. Ihr Studium schloss sie 1965 in Cambridge mit der Doktorwürde ab. Jane Goodall war an mehreren Forschungsprojekten beteiligt, ist Inhaberin berühmter Lehrstühle und erhielt viele Preise und Orden, darunter die Auszeichnung "CBE" ("Commander of the British Empire") und die "Medaille der National Geographic Society". Sie hat Bücher über Verhaltensforschung und Kinderbücher geschrieben, die in zahlreiche Sprachen übersetzt wurden. Als Initiatorin von "Roots & Shoots", einem Programm für den internationalen Umwelt- und Artenschutz, begeistert sie insbesondere Kinder und Jugendliche in zahlreichen Ländern für ein ökologisches Engagement. Unermüdlich auf Vortragsreisen, verbringt Jane Goodall die wenigen verbleibenden Wochen des Jahres im englischen Bournemouth.
