J. Christopher McNeal: Tshepo's Purgatory, Kartoniert / Broschiert

Klappentext

Roddy Allistair is an attorney in the year 2091, defending Luther Spalding, a terrorist leader from the American South whose organization opposes a technology that extracts human memories and implants them into the minds of others. The criminal justice system embraces the technology as an alternative to incarceration. The Catholic Church hails it as a tool of empathy and reconciliation. But the Independent Consortium, headquartered in the fortress megacity of Little Rock, Arkansas, population five million, opposes the devices for one simple reason: they work. If even hardened criminals can be made to suffer what they have done to others, the supply of them will dry up, and the world may no longer need men like Spalding. As a true believer in the Consortium, Allistair plunges deeper into his client's defense and finds himself pulled in two directions: toward the charismatic Cardinal Archbishop Kitso Tshepo, who supports the technology, and toward the allure of advancing within the glamorous and violent world of the terrorists who oppose it. Set in a vibrant and immersive future America, Tshepo's Purgatory is Southern speculative fiction about friendship, vulnerability, and masculinity.
